Say your band is playing an open mic. There are a whole lot of other bands playing too, so it's important that changeover happens as quickly as possible. There are amps there, and a complete drumkit. Brand new off the shelf, no, but serviceable.

Drummers: don't bring your own hardware and crap. It wastes time, and all of the bands after yours have to play shorter sets because of it. Perhaps a snare is ok, but all of this taking cymbals off and *maybe* putting them back on is a waste of other people's time. It's not your band's show, it's an open mic. Use what you're given. If having "your sound" is more important to you than other bands getting the chance to play a proper set length at an open mic, you are being selfish.

This is, in my opinion, poor music etiquette. Sorry.
