Well, they signed better guys in the offseason than the Habs so far. Seriously, do you know how it feels to watch them sign Jason Blake for 4 million a year (a steal if he keeps his production up for the next few years) and then we sign dudes like Brisebois and Bryan Smolinski? Sometimes I wonder what's going though Bob Gainey's mind.
I wrote that after the dude they just picked up got arrested for drunk driving. I was watching various teammates being interviewed and it occurred to me that the Leafs seem far less shrewed in their team-building than say, the Sens. Not trying to bash them necessarily, but you'd think a team with such a demanding, cup-starved fan base would fandango some more to ice a contender.
